Officials in besieged Gaza have appealed to the international community to send volunteer health workers to address the shortage following Israel’s continuing attacks on the enclave.
Officials at Shifa Hospital, the biggest in Gaza, said staff are barely able to cope with the huge demands placed on them.
“Our medical teams have been severely exhausted and consumed due to the huge number of victims and injuries and the direct targeting of medical staff and their families, as these crews either killed or displaced,” Mohammed Abu Salmiya, director at Shifa Hospital, said.
