Doha, Qatar: The Qatar Philatelic and Numismatic Center is holding, in cooperation with Qatari Dar Al Kutub of the Ministry of Culture, an exhibition titled "Athar and Ketab".
The two-day exhibition features internationally awarded works and items that detail mail history in Qatar since 1950, the year that the first Qatar Post office was established.
It also displays model stamps of Sheikh Ali bin Abdullah Al-Thani that were not officially used.
The stamps cover themes of education, culture, literature and more. It includes introductory pages on stamps in both Arabic and English.
The symposium accompanying the exhibition covered the history of mail in the world and in Qatar, presented by the Director of the Center, Hussain Rajab Al Ismail.
On the sidelines of the "Athar and Ketab" exhibition, the Qatar Philatelic and Numismatic Center will hold an auction on Friday at the Dar Al Kutub that includes 209 items, including rare and valuable stamps and coins.
