El Fasher, Sudan: A tripartite meeting was held here yesterday, attended by the Deputy Premier and Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs H E Ahmed bin Abdullah Al Mahmoud, representative of Qatar; Mohammed Ibn Chambas, Special Representative of the African Union and the UN and chief of UNAMID; and Ibrahim Kamara, representative of the African Union. The meeting stressed the need for dialogue involving all components of the people of Darfur in accordance with the Doha Document to promote the peace process in the region and provide a favourable environment for implementation of the document. Al Mahmoud said the Doha Document for Peace in Darfur had provided for Darfur dialogue as the basis for the peace process in the region. The meeting was also attended by Qatar’s Ambassador to Sudan H Rashid bin Abdulrahman Al Nuaimi. He said: “The Technical Committee of the Darfur internal dialogue had met in Doha last March, and reached a proposed strategy to be presented at this meeting.”
