BAGHDAD: At least seventeen people including Afghan pilgrims were wounded when a car bomb exploded north of Karbala southern Iraq Thursday morning.

The car bomb, parked in a square in the Imam Aoun area north of Karbala, exploded near a bus carrying Afghan pilgrims, a security source said, adding that the injured were taken to nearby hospitals.

Earlier Wednesday, at least 12 people were killed and 165 others wounded in an explosion of two booby-trapped cars in the northern cities of Kirkuk and Tuz Khurmato.

The twin deadly bombings followed a recent deadliest wave of bombings taking place in Iraq and a day after assassination of a parliament member in a suicide explosion. (QNA)
