Niall de Burca, Ireland’s famous storyteller, entertained students of ACS Doha International School with his tales from Ireland. Giants, spooky tales and tales of magic captured the imaginations of both young and old.
“ACS Doha is very pleased to introduce Niall to the students, as we believe that offering the students a great range of activities that they don’t normally experience, will help expand their horizon,” said Diane Hren, Head of School, ACS Doha International School.
Niall has hosted many performances in his home country, including shows at local theatres, radio and at many festivals including Féile Earraai, the CS Lewis Festival, and The National Children’s Book Festival. Abroad he has performed and held workshops in countries as diverse as Poland, Argentina, Italy and The Netherlands.
Recognised for the diversity of his stories and his ability to reach out to all ages, Niall is a familiar figure to many Irish children through his innovative school programmes. His ‘Storytelling as a Tool of Education’ workshops are highly recommended by educators.
In May 2002, Niall received a Medal Of Excellence from the Heidleberg school district in Germany for his work with young authors.
He worked with all Early Childhood classes today at ACS Doha and in the afternoon he performed for parents and families of the school at the M.S Learning Hub.
The students laughed along to the visiting artist’s animated and interactive storytelling as he brought words to life. “It was truly a magical experience not only for the children, but also the adults who were equally mesmerised,“ said Suzan Leese, Early Childhood Principal.
