45 wind power   projects on way

ISLAMABAD: As many as 45 wind power projects of around 3,200 MW are under process and of them 106 MW are ready for commercial operation, while another 150 MW are under construction, said official sources.

The commencement of commercial operation of the 56 MW FFC Wind Farm was the beginning of exploiting the wind potential of GharoKeti Bandar Wind Corridor — an area that alone offers power generation potential of 50,000 MW.

They said that the present government added more generation in the national grid by completing thermal and small hydro plants.

There was a gap between demand and supply and efforts were being made to change the energy mix to generate cheaper electricity by using indigenous resources, such as wind, coal and hydel.
