Qatar wins top three slots in Fazza contest

DOHA: Qatar has won three trophies at the recently concluded Fazza Championship for Falconry in Dubai.
Qatari falconers won the first three places in ‘Shaheen wahash qarnas’ category of the two-day competition.
They included Team QTR whose falcon clocked 18.959 seconds, Saleh Rashid (19.352) and Saad Ahmad Al Mohannadi (20.846) seconds, respectively.
They brought home a Landrover Supercharged (first place winner), Toyota Land Cruiser V6 (second) and Nissan 320 for the third position.
Khalil Mohannadi, a member of Qatari team, said his team comprised 20 falconers, 15 of whom took part in the championship.
The Qatari delegation took part in the event for the second year.
The championship was held under the auspices of Hamdan Bin Mohammed Heritage Centre.
The first day saw 180 participants in ‘Shaheen wahash qarnas’ and ‘Shaheen wahash farkh’ categories from all GCC countries.
The event attracted hundreds of visitors of all ages and various nationalities from the Gulf and beyond who enjoyed the ancient sport of falconry in a traditional setting.
