DOHA: Vodafone Qatar’s mobile customers stood at 1.39 million for the three months ended December 31, 2017, reflecting stability from the previous quarter, with postpaid customers increasing by 9 percent due to the popularity of the company’s FLEX plans.
The company changed its financial year end from March 31 to December 31, at its Extraordinary General Assembly meeting held on October 18, 2017. Accordingly, the company’s audited financial statements for the financial year ending December 31, 2017 (9 months) will be issued before March 31, 2018.
In addition, Vodafone Qatar has reached commercial settlement with network vendors as compensation for the network outage experienced by the company in July 2017. The total compensation is equal to QR25m in credit notes and QR65m in credit vouchers to be utilized in the future.
Commenting on the update, Vodafone Qatar’s Chief Executive Officer Ian Gray said: “The company has shown a strong recovery after the outage in July 2017. Adding to this, by the end of November our measurement of customer satisfaction was close to where it was prior to the network outage when we were enjoying our highest ever performance. This is extremely positive as it shows our customers’ confidence in us has returned very quickly and reflects the high quality of our network and customer services. We now remain focused on keeping the momentum going and ensuring we build on our strong global reputation and to keep on challenging telco norms in order to bring innovation and create an exciting future for our customers in Qatar.”
