Makkah, Saudi Arabia: The Muslim World League welcomed the announcement marking the launch of the second phase of the comprehensive peace plan, the declaration of a "Peace Council," and the formation of a Palestinian national committee to administer the Gaza Strip.
In this context, it commended the efforts of US President Donald Trump to halt the war on Gaza, his commitment to the withdrawal of the occupation government’s army, and the prevention of any annexation of parts of the West Bank.
In a statement, the League’s Secretary-General, Dr. Mohammed bin Abdulkarim Al Issa, emphasized the urgent need for full adherence to the obligations of this phase and for firm, serious action against any violations, particularly ensuring sufficient access to the much-needed humanitarian aid in the devastated Gaza Strip.
He also underscored the importance of supporting the return of the Palestinian National Authority to assume its responsibilities in Gaza, as a step toward ending the cycle of violence and wars and establishing a lasting, comprehensive, and just peace, in accordance with relevant international resolutions and the New York Declaration on the two-state solution.
