DOHA: The second summit of the World Innovation Summit for Health (WISH), a global initiative by Qatar Foundation (QF) will begin today in Doha and feature forums to address health issues faced across the world.
The two-day summit will be held at the Qatar national Convention Centre (QNCC).
Chaired by internationally renowned experts, the forums will produce interdisciplinary, evidence-based reports on topics, including communicating complex health messages, delivering affordable cancer care, dementia, diabetes, patient safety, and mental well-being of children and young people.
Dr Donald M Berwick, President Emeritus and Senior Fellow, Institute for Healthcare Improvement will deliver a keynote speech at the opening session of the summit today.
A special feature of the summit this year will be the ‘Innovation Showcase.’
It will exhibit healthcare innovations — ranging from practical devices and business models, to design-based solutions — the innovation showcases provide a chance for entrepreneurs to exhibit their healthcare innovation in front of some of the world’s leading health experts and decision makers.
Also the Young Innovators programme will showcase healthcare innovations at the 2015 WISH Summit of young people who study at Qatar-based universities and colleges aged up to 30 years.
The programme will also offer young innovators a unique opportunity to meet many leading health experts, policy and decision makers from around the world and provide a platform to develop and promote their ideas.
Qatar Foundation has established WISH to bring about action in healthcare innovation locally in Qatar, regionally and globally.
Through WISH, Qatar Foundation is supporting the nation in establishing healthcare initiatives for the benefit of the globe.
The inaugural WISH summit in December 2013 brought together more than 1,000 delegates from 67 countries to discuss and debate practical, lasting and innovative solutions to global healthcare challenges.
