Doha: Director-General of Qatar News Agency (QNA) Ahmed bin Saeed Al Rumaihi met yesterday with Directors of Moral Guidance Directorates and a number of senior officers in the Defence Ministries of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries, who are currently visiting Doha.

During the meeting, they reviewed areas of cooperation in the field of media between the QNA and the moral guidance directorates in the GCC countries, as well as discussing ways to develop and enhance joint cooperation.

Director-General of QNA welcomed the directors of moral guidance in the GCC countries and the accompanying delegation of senior officers, affirming the importance of such visits for their role in strengthening the bonds of cooperation between the GCC countries.

He  also stressed the importance of exchanging experiences and benefiting from the experiences of all parties working in the field of media, whether media institutions or media departments affiliated to ministries and government institutions in the GCC countries, especially in light of the developments taking place in the media sector, and the accompanying information flow revolution.

Al Rumaihi expressed QNA’s readiness to provide all its capabilities and expertise in order to develop the media sector in the GCC countries, as well as advancing this important vital sector in line with the tremendous technical developments in this field, especially since the agency has recently begun to use the latest media technologies in its field of work.

Following the meeting, the visiting delegation toured the departments of Qatar News Agency (QNA), during which they learned about the nature of the agency’s work and the various developments brought about in formulating and disseminating news through modern technologies and various platforms.

The delegation toured the News Department, during which they got acquainted with its specialized editorial departments, and the nature of the work of the central editing department in processing news and transmitting it on the agency’s network and its many websites.

The Gulf delegation also toured the Technical Affairs Department and listened to an explanation of modern technologies used in the field of information technology, data processing, and managing the agency’s websites. 

The delegation also got acquainted with the media training center of the agency, which organizes specialised media courses throughout the year for media staff in government agencies in the country and media students, as well as specialized courses for the agency’s journalists and editors.
