DOHA: Since its opening in October 2011, the Renaissance Doha City Center Hotel has participated in the Qatar International Food Festival. This year, it is hosting and sponsoring Qatar Tourism Authority’s (QTA) signature ‘Dinner in the Sky’ zone at the festival on March 20-23.
‘Dinner in the Sky’ is a dining experience with an edge for the thrill seeker. Lifted into the air by cranes on a dining set platform, 22 guests will be seated and have a breathtaking view of the bay from a height of 40 meters as they sit and dine a three-course menu, prepared by the hotel’s Executive Chef Christian Jean. Safety harnesses will be provided for all and the platform will have a central serving station to take orders up in the sky. Tickets will be available at the event.
The hotel’s authentic Brazilian Churrascaria (char-grill) restaurant – Ipanema — will participate in the Qatar- Brazil Zone that will incorporate elements of Qatar Brazil Year of Culture 2014. At the Ipanema tent you can discover authentic Brazilian food prepared by the Ipanema culinary team.
The festival, in its fifth year, will be co-organised by QTA and Qatar Airways at Museum of Islamic Art Park over a weekend of gastronomic alfresco eating, drinking and cooking, as well as family fun and entertainment. Main themes running through the festival are healthy food, traditional Qatari dishes and the celebration of Year of Culture 2014 with original blends of Qatar and Brazilian cuisine.
The festival will reflect the five-star fine dining available in Qatar, which is fast gaining reputation for some of the best gourmet food and gastronomic delights in the region. Fifty stalls of top restaurants will be at the show and QTA Awards will be given for the Best Stall, Best Meal and Best Food.
