Doha: A new CEO will take charge of Vodafone Qatar from June this year, the company announced yesterday.

Kyle Whitehill (pictured) will take charge of the company from Richard Daly, who will be returning home to the UK for family reasons, according to the company.

Whitehill will join Vodafone Qatar from Ghana, where he has been CEO of the company since 2010.

Vodafone Ghana is said to have seen significant increase in revenue market, share and profitability during his term.

He has worked for Vodafone Group since 2001 and has previously held senior positions, including Enterprise Business Unit Director in the UK and Chief Operating Officer in India.

Commenting on the appointment of Whitehill, Sheikh Abdulrahman bin Saud Al Thani, Chairman of Vodafone Qatar, said: “The entire Board of Vodafone Qatar and I are delighted to welcome Kyle and his family to Qatar. I am sure that Kyle’s deep experience in enterprise and fixed line services will ensure the continued success of Vodafone in Qatar.”

“We are sorry to see Richard leave and thank him for his efforts but fully understand his desire to spend more time with his family. The handover between Richard and Kyle will happen throughout the summer enabling a very smooth and seamless transition,” he added. The Peninsula
