Khetco XI outplayed Regal Strikers to win the Qatar Airways Twenty20 Tournament with a splendid 40-run triumph at the West Bay Ground recently.

Qatar Airways is the sponsor of the popular tournament, organised by the Qatar Board of Cricket, Hockey and Rugby to boost the sport in the country.

Khetco XI, batting first after winning the toss, ran up a huge 186 for seven in 20 overs.

Jameel and Zohaib batted magnificently to lay the foundation of their team’s big total.

Jameel struck a match-high 44. During his 51-minute occupation of the crease, he blasted four boundaries and one six off 35 balls. Zohaib was also in aggressive mood, putting up 38 off just 29 balls. His knock was studded with four hits to the rope and two over it.

Firoz got two wickets for 30 runs to finish as the most successful Regal Strikers bowler.

The chase of Regal Strikers was marred by fall of regular wickets and they eventually collapsed in the 20th over at 146. Naveed got two scalps for 29 in four overs.

Ajay and Shani survived the longest and took the score close to 150-run mark. Ajay’s 36 off 26 balls had four boundaries, while Shani slammed a six and four boundaries in his 24-ball 35.

Kuwari lauded the winners Khetco XI for giving a quality display in the final. He expressed hopes that other teams would work hard next season and put up a better show to leave an enduring impression on the tournament.
