Doha: The Doha Municipality has intensified inspection campaigns on food outlets to ensure the safety of food provided to citizens and residents.
During an inspection drive, some workers of a restaurant were found preparing food inside a residential apartment belonging to the restaurant in Najma area.
Following necessary legal procedures, the inspectors seized poultry products in large quantities which were being prepared and packaged in unhealthy conditions.
A number of equipment and devices used in the processing of food materials that do not meet the specifications were also confiscated.
Likewise, workers carry out their activities without health certificates, in violation of the provisions of Law No. 8 of 1990 regarding the regulation of food control.
The municipality referred the violators to the competent authorities, and took legal actions against the violating restaurant, including the administrative closure.
The Ministry of Municipality stressed that the regulatory bodies concerned with all municipalities are intensifying their campaigns and continuous inspection tours of all food establishments, within the framework of their constant concern for the health and safety of all consumers.
The Ministry urged people to report any violations through the call centre number 184 or through social networking sites or the website of the Ministry.
