Doha: The ‘Women’s Circle’ a Sheraton Doha x Anahi experience, aims to bring together amazing women to share, discuss and witness their journeys in a safe and enriching way with unique concepts and collaborations. This initiative comes under the ‘Together We’re Better’ CSR programme inspired by Marriott’s spirit to serve the community.
For the May event today, the Women’s Circle creates another new experience, a panel on female led filmmaking. 'Women in Film - Centering Young Women as Storytellers' celebrates the Short Film Lab for empowering, mentoring and supporting a group of 14 incredible young women, residents of Qatar, from nine different nationalities.
They each wrote, filmed and edited their first short movie, inspired by diverse themes impacting their lives. Together these projects offer unique glimpses into crucial issues facing their generation. The Lab was funded by the Community Grants programme from the US Embassy Doha.
The Women’s Circle will host some of the mentors, the young filmmakers and other women in the industry in a conversation around storytelling, filmmaking and more.
The panellists will include Hend Fakhroo, Qatari filmmaker; Dr. Mohana Rajakumar, Short Film Lab Founder, and Fateema Al Hamaydeh, Mentor, Screenwriter & Director.
The event will be held at 6pm at Dukhan Meeting Room, Sheraton, and costs QR50 per person.
