Action from the first day of Stage One of the World 9-ball Pool Championship at Al Sadd Stadium in Doha yesterday. Of the 128 players competing in Stage One 12 players will qualify for Stage Two of the championship. Stage Two will begin from June 20, while the final will be held on June 27. Around 244 players from 29 countries are taking part in the event which is sanctioned by World Pool-Billiard Association (WPA) and Asian Pocket Billiard Union (APBU). Qatar has the rights to host the World Pool-Billiard Association championship consecutively until 2017. The championship is sponsored by Qatar Olympic Committee (QOC), while Simonis (cloth) are the co-sponsors. Wiraka Pte Ltd will be the official table providers for the event.
