Doha, Qatar: Advisor to the Prime Minister and Official Spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Dr. Majed bin Mohammed Al Ansari, today warned against reckless targeting of nuclear facilities and stressed the importance of de-escalation during a press conference.

The key points covered included:

  1. We warn against careless targeting of nuclear facilities in Iran. This is unprecedented and will have repercussions on global energy markets and on the regional security in a whole.
  2. The regional security can't take any more crises and escalations.
  3. The negotiations between US and Iran was ongoing on a positive diplomatic note for the first time since 7 years.
  4. The states of the region was involved in the frame of supporting the efforts of reaching an agreement between Washington and Tehran.
  5. The communications are ongoing with all factions of the conflict, including the USA, the IAEA, and the other international agencies seeking to protect the region from an all out regional war results of which cannot be predicted.
  6. We consider this escalation a new phase of a continued series of escalations as one player in the region is fully committed to fail peace efforts and to worsen the situation, while all other players and states are working on de-escalation.
  7. Marine navigation in the region continues normally despite the challenging escalation threats; and if they do not cease, there would be negative repercussions.
  8. We trust the regional economic structure and the situation remains calm.
  9. Qatari communication channels are actively working to de-escalate and to prevent the region from suffering the repercussions of the escalation.
  10. The State of Qatar has received in the last few days multiple communications talking about reinforcing peace and stability in the region.
  11. As reported previously, the USA is not part of this conflict, so far; and we have been great supporters and actively involved in the mediation between Iran and USA, which had been going on a positive note.
  12. We believe there is still a desire to manage this crisis in a diplomatic way from the American side, and we will keep working to de-escalate the conflict between Israel and Iran.
  13. The exports of oil and gas are continuing normally, as is the case also with international companies present in the region.
  14. The Israeli escalation delays the regional efforts to de-escalate including the situation in Gaza; we call to an end to this escalation and for all parties to return to the table of negotiations.
