Riyadh: Saudi Minister of Foreign Affairs Prince Faisal bin Farhan bin Abdullah on Thursday affirmed that Riyadh and Tehran were looking forward to strengthening bilateral relations to resume diplomatic relations between the two countries, appreciating Iran's decision to support Saudi Arabia's candidacy to host Expo 2030.

In a joint press conference with his Iranian counterpart, Hossein Amir-Abdollahian in Riyadh, the Saudi Foreign Minister highlighted sincere and serious desire of Saudi Arabia and Iran to implement the terms of the agreement that benefit both countries and peoples, by enhancing mutual trust, expanding cooperation and strengthening regional stability.

He expressed the Kingdom's aspiration for the visit of Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi to Saudi Arabia, based on the invitation extended by the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, King of Saudi Arabia.

The resumption of the work of diplomatic missions of the two countries is another step to develop bilateral relations, he added, renewing Saudi Arabia's keenness to discuss ways to activate previous agreements with Iran, especially those related to security and economic aspects, with the importance of continuing consultation and coordination in the coming period between the foreign ministries of the two countries.
