KABUL: At least 49 Taliban militants were killed and 15 others were arrested during military operations by Afghan national security forces in the past 24 hours.
The operations were jointly conducted by Afghan national police, Afghan national army and Afghan intelligence – National Directorate of Security (NDS) operatives, according to the Afghan (Khaama Press).
Interior ministry said in a statement Wednesday that the militants were killed or injured in Laghman, Kunduz, Jawzjan, Kandahar, Zabul, Kunar, Parwan, Kapisa and Helmand provinces.
The statement further added that Afghan security forces confiscated various types of light and heavy weapons along with explosives during the operations.
In the meantime, the Ministry of Defense in a separate statement said at last 52 Taliban militants were killed and 38 others were injured during operations in the past 24 hours.
The statement said Afghan army forces also confiscated 82 rounds of improvised explosive device (IED) during the operations.
Taliban militants group has not commented regarding the report so far. (QNA)
