RIO DE JANEIRO, Brazil: Qatar’s Sarah Masoud won a silver medal in the Women’s Shotput F33 event at the Summer Paralympic Games, which is being held in Rio de Janeiro currently. This is the first ever medal won by a female athelete for Qatar in paralympic Games.
Sarah Masoud threw 5.39 metres to win the second spot on the podium. The gold went to Algerian Bojedar Asmahan who threw 5.72. In third place was UAE’s Sarah Al Sinani who managed 5.9 metres.
Sarah is one of the three athletes representing Qatar at this edition of the Paralympic Games. The other two are Mohammed Rashid Al-Kubaisi (Men’s wheelchairs event 100m) and Abdulrahman Abdulgader (Men’s shot put and Javelin Throw).
Earlier Abdulrahman won a silver medal in the Men’s Shotput F34 event throwing 11.15 metres.
