Bogota: Colombian President Abelardo de la Espriella on Wednesday confirmed the deaths of all five people aboard a small plane that crashed Sunday while flying from Condoto, in the department of Choco, to Guaymaral airport in Bogota.

"Sadly, authorities confirmed that all occupants were found dead. My heartfelt condolences go to their families, friends and loved ones in this moment of immense pain," De la Espriella said on X.

The Cessna T206 aircraft, registered as HK-4985, had gone missing in a jungle area of Choco last Sunday and was found on Monday in a hard-to-access area at an altitude of about 2,700 meters.

The Colombian Air Force said a UH-60 Angel helicopter allowed a recovery team to enter the area for inspection and search operations.

Indigenous guards also deployed members to support the ground search after the emergency was reported. The victims were the pilot and four women who were part of a health mission.
