Doha, Qatar: The State of Qatar has completed its preparations for high-level participation at the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly, which will be held this month at the organization's headquarters in New York.
Dr. Majed bin Mohammed Al Ansari, Advisor to the Prime Minister and Official Spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, affirmed this, adding that the session will be held under the theme 'Restoring Trust, Managing Transformation: A United Nations That Delivers for All', amidst a highly critical international climate resulting from regional tensions witnessed since last February.
Dr. Al Ansari said in a statement to the Qatar News Agency (QNA) that Qatari officials will hold a series of bilateral and multilateral meetings with their counterparts from various countries, as well as representatives of international and regional organizations, on the sidelines of the upcoming session.
The meetings will address ways to strengthen relations across various fields, open new avenues for cooperation, deepen strategic partnerships, and review regional and international developments and ways to reduce tensions in the region, particularly given Qatar's involvement in efforts aimed at bringing an end to regional and international tensions and paving the way for solutions that achieve stability and lasting peace.
The Advisor to the Prime Minister and Official Spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs added that Qatar's participation this year will focus on supporting international peace and security; promoting dialogue, mediation, and de-escalation; upholding respect for international law and the UN Charter; strengthening multilateral action and restoring confidence in the international system; supporting sustainable development and humanitarian efforts; ensuring that aid reaches the people and countries most in need; and continuing mediation efforts even amid the crises and challenges facing the region.
