Doha: The Qatar Football Association announced today the list of Qatari national team players who will participate in the Gulf Cup, hosted by the city of Jeddah in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, from September 23 until October 6.
The list is selected by Spanish coach Julen Lopetegui, the head coach of the Qatari national football team—for the tournament includes 24 players, among them three goalkeepers: Salah Zakaria, Mishal Barsham, and Mahmoud Abu Nada, in addition to the players: Ahmed Alaa, Ahmed Fathi, Akram Afif, Ayoub Al-Alawi, Edmilson Junior, Jasem Jaber, Sultan Al-Brik, Tareq Salman, Assim Madbou, Essa Lai, Abdulaziz Hatem, Tahseen Mohamed, Naif Al-Hadrami, Mohamed Manaei, Houssam Al-Amin, Almoez Ali, Yousef Abdulrazzaq, Hashem Ali, Hassan Al-Haydos, Khoukhi Boualem, and Pedro Miguel.
The draw for the 27th edition of the Gulf Cup placed the Qatari national team in Group B alongside the teams of the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, and Yemen. The Qatari national team will begin its campaign in the tournament by facing the defending champions Bahrain in the first round on September 24 at Prince Abdullah Al-Faisal Stadium.
