SEOUL: South Korean President Park Geun-hye and Philippine President Benigno Aquino III held summit talks Thursday that were expected to focus on boosting economic and defence co-operation between the two countries.
President Aquino arrived in Seoul earlier in the day for a two-day visit, his first to South Korea since taking office in June 2010.
He is also the first foreign leader to make a state visit to South Korea under Park, Yonhap news agency said today.
The two leaders'talks will also focus on boosting cooperation in trade and investment between the two countries.
As well as development assistance for the Southeast Asian nation, regional security and other international issues.
Ahead of the summit, the two countries signed three memorandums of understanding, one on defence co-operation.
And another on sports exchanges and the third on providing an economic development cooperation fund (EDCF) loan to the Philippines. (QNA)
