Doha: Qatar Charity organised 27,500 sacrifices in 55 countries for Eid Al Adha 1435H, benefitting a million people at a cost of QR13m.
The adhahi is one of the most important seasonal projects implemented by QC annually, highlighting a sense of solidarity among Muslims and allowing the needy to celebrate the Eid.
A million people in fifty five countries in Africa, Asia and Europe benefitted from the distribution of 27,518 sacrifices.
The project focused on people in countries experiencing exceptional circumstances, with 700 cows distributed in Palestine, at an estimated cost of QR1.5m, 2000 lambs in Syria, at an estimated cost of over QR2m, 4900 lambs in Somalia, at a cost of over QR1.7m and 1550 lambs in Yemen, at a cost of more than QR850,000.
Countries targeted included: Syrians and Palestinians inside and outside the countries, Iraq, Somalia, Jordan, Qatar, Tunisia, Morocco, Lebanon, Sudan, Rwanda, Uganda, Malawi, Burundi, Kenya, Ivory Coast, Djibouti, Tanzania, Mali, Togo, Nepal, India, Chad, Central African Republic, Angola, Guinea Bissau, Mauritania, Yemen, Bangladesh, Benin, Gambia, Namibia, Lesotho, Botswana, Iran, Sri Lanka, Niger, Nigeria, Sierra Leone, Liberia, South Africa , Ethiopia, Burkina Faso, Pakistan, Indonesia, Kosovo, Comoros, Albania, the Philippines, Ghana, Bosnia and Ethiopia.
The QC executive management team extends its thanks to all those who contributed to the campaign, asking Allah to reward them for what they gave and to bless them in their livelihoods and health.
QC praised the overwhelming response of individuals and companies whose generosity exceeded that of previous years. There was a particularly notable increase in the number of adhahi distributed within Qatar, bringing joy and happiness to the hearts of the poor and needy, reviving the Sunnah of the Prophet, peace be upon him, in order to entrench the values of solidarity and unity within society.
Two thousand two hundred sacrifices were distributed within Qatar, benefitting more than 11 thousand people, including 668 sponsored families on low incomes.
QC also sought to double the number of Haj pilgrims for this year, supporting 1,000 pilgrims at a total cost of QR4m.
