20 teams to take part in School League

Doha: Twenty teams will be seen in action in the 4th School League , it was revealed here yesterday.
The Qatar Football Association (QFA) in collaboration with the Ministry of Education & Higher Education and Qatar School Sports Association (QSSA) yesterday held for the School League at QFA’s headquarters, Al Bidda Tower. 
Matches this season will be played on the training sites of Al Sadd Stadium, Al Kharaitiyat, Mseimeer, Al Arabi Stadium and Umm Salal. All matches will be played at 9am and will be officiated by QFA referees. 
The School League highlights QFA’s objective in promoting football among secondary schools in Qatar, thus playing a major role in the discovery of new talented players for Qatari football. 
This season will feature 20 schools, drawn into four groups of five. The league will begin with group stage followed by a knock out stage. 
The third place decider match and final match, will take place in Aspire Dome. The first place team will receive a cash prize of QR40,000, second place QR30,000, and third place QR20,000.
“We are excited to launch the fourth edition of the School League and look forward to see the schools play their best to win this year’s title. Every year, we try to build on the success of previous editions by ensuring that we follow a certain standard when it comes to organizing the matches,” Hilal Al Mohannadi, Chairman of the School and University League Committee at QFA, said.
 “This league demonstrates QFA’s CSR strategy which aims to provide a platform for students at the high school level to be able to play more football. We work hard at nurturing the talents of the students who fall under this age group to instil a passion for football. The promotion of the positive values of football have the greatest impact on the students and society as a whole,” he added.
Official referees from QFA will be officiating the matches which gives more importance to the league and ensures that the students learn more about the positive values that football brings such as fair play, team efforts, and good sportsmanship. The sponsors of this year’s edition include the Supreme Committee for Delivery & Legacy who are the Official Strategic Sponsor of the School League, Nike, Al Kass, and QNB.
