RAMALLAH: The Palestinian Prisoners Society stated that the Israeli occupation forces carried out around 5,300 arrests, since the beginning of this year.
In a press statement today, the Palestinian Prisoners Society said that the arrests included 111 women, 620 children, and 1,610 administrative detention, explaining that the highest rate of arrests was recorded in April, with about 1,228 arrests.
The statement pointed out that the occupation forces deliberately caused the highest amount of sabotage inside the homes of detainees and their families, resulting in great material losses.
The Palestinian Prisoners Society also indicated that according to current data, the rate of administrative detention operations is the most alarming figure, compared to the past few years. It added that the highest percentage of administrative detention orders was issued in August 2022, reaching 272 orders, with the number of administrative detainees in the occupation's prisons, reaching about 800 detainees by the end of September.
The Israeli occupation authorities issued more than 9,500 administrative detention orders since 2015 until this year. Additionally, since late 2011 until today, prisoners have carried out more than 400 individual strikes, most of which were against administrative detention. More than 80 percent of administrative detainees are former detainees who were subjected to administrative detention many times, among them the elderly, the sick, and children.
