Djibouti: Qatar stressed the need to go to the UN Security Council in order to adopt a resolution establishing a UN Commission of Inquiry to investigate all Israeli attacks and actions against the Palestinian people in the occupied Palestinian territories and bring to justice all Israeli officials responsible for these crimes.
These remarks came in a by Minister of State for Foreign Affairs H E Dr Khalid bin Mohamed Al Attiyah, before the 39th Session of the Council of Foreign Ministers of Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) held in Djibouti.
Dr Al Attiyah urged the international community to honestly and sincerely boost support for the Palestinian people following the recent Israeli escalation in Gaza.
He voiced concern over the barbaric massacres committed by Israel against the unarmed Palestinians in Gaza, which confirms once again its inhumane approach towards the Palestinian people.
Israel’s attack aimed at taking revenge on Palestinians, which constitutes a flagrant violation of all international instruments and norms, cannot be justified as self-defence, explained Dr Al Attiyah.
What is happening in the occupied Palestinian territories, the suffering of the people of the West Bank and the Gaza Strip including the killing, the destruction, the land confiscation, the apartheid wall, Israel’s violation of resolutions of international legitimacy and its stand meant to destroying all remaining chances for peace reveal the seriousness of the current situation not only on the Palestinian people, but on the whole Islamic nation, he added.
