Activities lined up by public, private sectors

DOHA: Private and government institutions have organised a number of activities in line with National Day celebrations.
Qatar General Electricity & Water Corporation (Kahramaa) yesterday celebrated Qatar National Day at its head offices in Dafna with fun, educational and cultural activities such as falconry, henna painting, fishing and poetry composition, among others.
A song composed on Kahramaa and its video presentation was a major attraction.
All staff were provided with gifts and winners of photography competition based on Tarsheed theme in different categories were announced. 
Katara Hospitality and The Ritz-Carlton, Doha jointly organized a special Qatar National Day Festival within the hotel’s Lagoon Garden and Tent. 
Dignataries, local media representatives, and top government officials were invited to join them for warm Qatari hospitality and enjoyment.
The programme comprised traditional henna art, local falcon handler, encounter with magnificent Arabian horses, children’s playground, including bouncing castle, traditional Qatari lunch at The Lagoon Tent and a cake-cutting ceremony.
Aspire Academy celebrated the National Day with events attended by its student athletes and staff. 
Among the activities were a cake-cutting ceremony which included authentic Qatari food and Arabic coffee, an ‘Ardha’ dance performance, a motorcycle parade, taking pictures  of falcons and henna.
The attendees were presented with gifts, including Qatari flags and pictures of the Emir H H Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani.
Vodafone’s Al Johara all-women team held a competition for schools to reward most creative works of art by students of Amna Bint Wahab Independent Preparatory School, Al Khalij Al Arabi Independent School, Umm Salama Primary Independent School, Royal International School and Lycee Voltaire. 
Held under the theme “Qatari and Proud”, the competition saw students of various ages recognised for Best Picture Taken in Qatar for students aged 11 to 14; Best Drawing for students aged 6 to 10; and Best Picture Taken in Qatar by parents. 
The Primary Healthcare Corporation (PHCC) is organising National Day activities today and tomorrow. The activities will be held from 4pm until 9pm at Aspire Park. 
The programme includes entertainment such as the preparation of popular dishes, games and competitions for kids, healthcare services like measuring blood pressure and glucose, and distribution of sweets and gifts to participants.
