Doha: The General Postal Corporation (QPost) launched first postage stamps carrying the picture of the Emir H H Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani on the occasion of the National Day, which falls on December 18.
The stamps will be traded from today in all branches of post offices in the state.
The stamps are in QR30, QR20, QR10, QR5, QR4, QR3, QR2, QR1 and 50 dirhams denominations. The colourful stamps reflect the Qatar environment. A total of 100 000 stamps in each denomination will be issued on the first day.
The acting Chairman of QPost, Abdulrahman Al Aqeeli, said the stamps mark the National Day which is a dear occasion for all Qataris and their issuance is symbolic of National Day theme ‘Our Hearts Are The Source of Our Glory’.
He said the stamps are part of a series bearing pictures of the rulers of Qatar. QNA
