Doha, Qatar: Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of State for Defense Affairs HE Sheikh Saoud bin Abdulrahman bin Hassan Al-Thani chaired the Cabinet's regular meeting on Wednesday morning at the Amiri Diwan.
Following the meeting, Minister of Justice and Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs HE Ibrahim bin Ali Al Mohannadi stated the following:
At the outset of the meeting, the Cabinet extended its warmest congratulations and best wishes to HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani on the occasion of National Day. The Cabinet also extended its congratulations to the generous Qatari people and to the residents of Qatar.
On this glorious occasion, the Cabinet recalled with appreciation and gratitude the historic role of the founder, Sheikh Jassim bin Mohammed bin Thani, in laying the foundations of the modern State of Qatar, and expressed its pride in the comprehensive developmental renaissance and prestigious position the country has achieved under its wise leadership, both regionally and internationally.
The Cabinet praised HH the Amir for honoring the winners of the ninth edition of the Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani International Anti-Corruption Excellence (ACE) Award, which took place at a ceremony held in Doha on Dec. 14, amidst great international interest, due to the importance and distinction the award has gained, and the significant impact it has had in supporting the values of integrity and transparency, promoting global efforts to combat corruption, and its success in highlighting its seriousness and the need to confront it.
The Cabinet noted the convening of the 11th session of the Conference of the States Parties to the United Nations Convention against Corruption (COSP11), which was opened by Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs HE Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al-Thani and held in Doha from Dec. 15-19 within the framework of the State of Qatar’s partnership with the UN to promote integrity and transparency at the global level and to support international efforts to combat corruption.
The Cabinet praised the success of the FIFA Arab Cup Qatar 2025, which concludes tomorrow, Thursday, amid an atmosphere filled with feelings of brotherhood, solidarity, authentic Arab values and noble sportsmanship.
The Cabinet expressed its thanks and appreciation to all state agencies that contributed to organizing and securing the tournament and provided it with the means for success.
The Cabinet then considered the topics on its agenda and was informed of the Shura Council’s approval of a draft law amending some provisions of Law No. 3 of 2016 regarding the regulation of birth and death registration.
The Cabinet approved the draft Cabinet Resolution to issue the executive regulations for Law No. 6 of 2025 regulating health research, the draft Cabinet Resolution on the National Research Ethical Committee, and the draft Cabinet Resolution on the Committee for Monitoring Health Research.
The Cabinet approved a draft memorandum of understanding on technical cooperation in the field of tax administration between the General Tax Authority of the State of Qatar and the Federal Tax Service of the Russian Federation, in addition to a draft memorandum of understanding for cooperation in the health field between the governments of the State of Qatar and the Republic of Portugal.
The Cabinet concluded its meeting by reviewing three reports and making the appropriate decisions regarding them. These included a report on the results of participation in the 29th meeting of the Ministerial Committee for Post and Telecommunications in the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), the 9th meeting of the GCC Ministerial Committee for e-Government, the joint meeting with the Digital Cooperation Organization in Kuwait in October, and a report on the results of participation in the 88th meeting of the Gulf Health Council of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) and the 11th meeting of the GCC Health Ministers Committee in Kuwait in October, and a report on the results of participation in the 5th session of the Qatar-Tajikistan Joint Committee on Economic, Commercial, and Technical Cooperation in Dushanbe.
