DOHA: A specialised training programme for food inspectors at the Ministry of Municipality and Urban Planning begins today at the ministry premises.
Participants will receive theoretical and practical training to increase their efficiency in food monitoring and inspections, the ministry said yesterday.
The theoretical aspect will include the legal framework for the inspection process, ways for settling food violations, sampling method and the procedure for communicating with the central laboratory, violations that might be reported or settled otherwise, and the mandatory information required for reporting violations.
Technical training covers the principles of public health and health requirements for food establishments, the general methods of food inspection and causes of food contamination such as germinal pollution and toxic pollution.
As part of the practical session, inspectors will visit food establishments, factories and enterprises in the food industry to train them in the procedures for reporting violations, methods of virtual screening and sensory assessment of food during inspections. The course includes introduction to the health and safety of food, contaminants, fundamentals of risk collection and control of critical points system, modern methods of inspection and control of food, principles of biochemistry and food quality control.
The programme will be supervised by a ministry team comprising Dr Ahmed Abu Mustafa, Legal Adviser, Majdi Abdullah, Head, Health Control Section, Al Rayyan Municipality, Amal Al Muhannadi, Acting Head, Training Section, Dr Abir Saad, training expert, Dr Essam Al Ashri, Legal Adviser, and Dr Shady Ziyada and Dr Hassan Albeyrome, food experts.
