QOA launches master's program in sports law

Doha: Qatar Olympic Academy (QOA) will launch on Sunday an executive master's program in sports law in cooperation with a number of international entities such as the International Olympic Committee (IOC), Olympic Council of Asia (OCA), Association of National Olympic Committees (ANOC), and Qatar Olympic Committee (QOC).
The program aims to spread awareness on sports law internationally and nationally, which helps students gain knowledge on international sports laws and how to deal with regulations correctly and professionally.
The program will work on supporting the legal expertise and developing legal entities in national and international sports institutions. The lecturers are a number of experts in the field of sports law, most of which are certified members in the in Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) in addition to lecturers from the College of Law at Qatar University, IOC and ANOC.
In addition, the program will update the legal services in the sports field nationally and internationally since the attendees work in the field as legal personnel in Gulf Olympic committees, sports federations, clubs or work as lawyers and have expressed interest in the program and wish to gain experience in sports laws and regulations.
Out of more than 40 applicants to the executive master's program, 14 were selected from Qatar and the GCC.
Saif Mohammed Al Naemi, executive director at QOA, expressed his satisfaction with the program, which, he said, is the first in the region, and will serve different sports sectors and cover all legal issues.
He said that the program has caught the interest of top sports organizations and entities such as ANOC, OCA and CAS who offered their cooperation to help the program succeed.
