AAB Sponsors Ceylonians Box Bash Cricket Tournament 2021

Doha: Abdullah Abdulghani & Bros. Co. (AAB) — the distributor of Toyota and Lexus — sponsored the Ceylonians Box Bash Cricket Tournament 2021 at the end of the year, an event jointly organised by Being Kind Foundation (BKF) and White Rock Studio. BKF is a duly-registered non-profit organisation recognised by the Sri Lankan Embassy in Qatar.  

Box cricket is a game of cricket which involves less players in each team. A total of 16 teams participated in the tournament — eight players from each side with 5 overs each innings. Teams were divided in to 4 groups, which each team playing 3 matches in the group stage. 

Zahira College Colombo Old Boys Association (OBA) Qatar (ZOBAQ) was declared champions after the final game with Outlook Boys. 

BKF introduced the ‘Box Bash Cricket Tournament 2021’ for the first time to provide a unique experience among cricket enthusiasts while remaining true to their advocacy of reaching out to the needy and gathering the Sri Lankan community in Qatar. Continuous observance of social distancing and health protocols were put in place for this community event. The event promotes good health and well-being while gathering the community leaders and organisations from amongst the Sri Lankan community. Any proceeds from the event go towards supporting education for children in need.

AAB has been actively supporting the community sports event as part of its Corporate Social Responsibility Pillar in line with the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) on good health and well-being.
