DOHA: Police busted a three-member gang of Asians, including a woman, found circulating fake GCC currencies worth 35,000 dirhams. The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) at the Ministry of Interior acted on a tip-off from an unidentified source that a woman in GCC dress was circulating fake 500 dirham currencies in shops.
The department launched an investigation which confirmed that the gang was behind the crime. They were arrested in a sting operation.
During interrogation, they confessed and said they had paid 60,000 rupees in their country to get the fake notes, the ministry said in a statement yesterday. They were referred to public prosecution for further investigation and legal proceedings. The Peninsula
