Doha: The Katara Cultural Village Foundation has completed its preparations to welcome the holy month of Ramadan. The village’s facilities are ready to host a comprehensive programme of cultural, religious, and entertainment events, all within a Ramadan atmosphere brimming with spirituality and a visual spectacle reflecting the beauty of this blessed month.

As Ramadan approaches, Katara has donned its Ramadan decorations, adorning its squares and walkways with artistic lighting and motifs inspired by Islamic identity.

The corridors of the Cultural Village are transformed into spaces where visual beauty meets the spirit of the holy month. Lanterns and harmonious lighting effects create a warm ambiance, offering visitors a unique Ramadan experience where tranquility blends with the vibrant cultural life that distinguishes Katara.

This year’s Ramadan programme of events is diverse, combining spiritual, cultural, and entertainment activities. On the artistic front, the Drama Theatre in Building 16 hosts performances of religious chants throughout the holy month, lending a special spiritual atmosphere to the evenings. Meanwhile, theatrical events are held across Katara’s various venues, offering an artistic experience that enriches the Ramadan ambiance.

As part of its commitment to religious activities, Katara organises a Quran memorisation competition for children at the Katara Mosque throughout Ramadan, reaffirming its cultural and social role in instilling spiritual values and strengthening the connection of generations to the Holy Quran. The Ramadan cannon continues its presence in the southern part of the Cultural Village, remaining one of the most prominent Ramadan traditions that attracts widespread public attention.

Regarding heritage and social events, Katara celebrates Garangao Night in the middle of Ramadan, an evening that reflects the authenticity of popular heritage and revives one of the most cherished Ramadan occasions in the collective memory. The programme also includes a number of tournaments and interactive activities, including the Katara Ramadan Chess Championship, which will be held in Building 15 from March 6 to 15. Other sporting tournaments and various activities will also take place, with details to be announced later, ensuring a diverse Ramadan experience and a wide range of options for visitors.

On the cultural and artistic front, Katara continues to host creative exhibitions. The “On the Shoulder of the Letter” exhibition continues in Building 18 – Gallery 2 from February 23 to March 8, offering a visual experience that celebrates Arabic calligraphy and its aesthetics.

Through these preparations and its renewed programme, the Katara Cultural Village Foundation affirms its commitment to providing a comprehensive Ramadan experience that combines spirituality, culture, and entertainment, offering visitors a vibrant space that reflects the unique character of the holy month.

Katara invites the public to visit the Cultural Village during Ramadan and enjoy its distinctive Ramadan atmosphere and the diverse events that will take place throughout the blessed month.
