Officials with the ISO 31000:2009 Risk Management Standard at the third annual risk management forum.
Doha: Msheireb Properties, a subsidiary of Qatar Foundation, hosted its third annual Risk Management Forum at the Four Seasons hotel. The theme was ‘Risk Management in Practice’ which involved an in-depth look at practical aspects of risk management while focusing on the global experience relevant to the region.
Auditors, consultants, engineers, contractors, healthcare and IT experts, oil and gas professionals, project and programme managers, real estate developers attended.
Many industry experts spoke on issues, including, mitigating project risk, safeguarding national information and communications systems, managing cyber risks and getting to grips with the human factor in risk.
“Msheireb Properties is proud of the forum as it not only highlights an area of great importance — risk management — but also represents an opportunity for people who have expertise to come together and share insights and experiences. Our hope is that, in time, this forum will become the flagship regional platform for high-level discussions and decision-making on risk management,” said Engineer Abdulla Hassan Al Mehshadi, CEO, Msheireb Properties.
Theuns Kotze, Regional Managing Director, British Standard Institution, awarded Msheireb Properties compliance with international ISO 31000:2009 Risk Management Standard in recognition of its risk management practice and effective implementation of risk management throughout its business, including strategy, management, communications and operations across the organisation and its flagship project Msheireb Downtown Doha.

Msheireb Properties has incorporated latest risk management procedures as part of efforts to incorporate industry best practices into its operations. It is already certified in ISO 9001:2008 for quality management; ISO 14001:2004 for environmental management; and BS OHSAS 18001:2007 for occupational health and safety management systems.
