Events and Beyond recently conducted a breakfast bash for women to enable them to share and inspire other women to make a difference in the society. Make it happen is the global theme of International Women’s Day celebrated every March 8. Localising the theme to encourage women to create a positive difference in the society, Conchita Ponce, Director of Events and Marketing of Events and Beyond urged women to take risks and step out of their comfort zones.
Zarina Rajah and Margarita Zuniga shared their journeys on how they have overcome their obstacles and yet managed to make a difference in their lives.
Zarina Rajah, a 52-year old South African was diagnosed with ovarian cancer at the age of 27 and then followed with thyroid cancer few years after. But this didn’t stop her from chasing her dreams and live life to the fullest by participating in various community outreach programmes. She is the primary Consultant and Partner at Hug Consultants and a cancer survivor for decades now.
Margarita Zuniga, an advocate and supporter of breast cancer awareness in Qatar and member of Ladies of Harley Qatar Chapter, encouraged the women to make their dreams come true and that every day is a new day and don’t let it slip away. “Do not be among the so many who say, I wish i could have. Take the step, even if it’s a tiny one forward,” she said.
Holiday Villa Hotel & Residence City Centre Doha, represented by its Asst PR Manager Shayne Monasterio, welcomed and thanked the guests for having the hotel as part of its event. She said: “We are keen on helping such activity that promotes equality and women’s empowerment as this is what the hotel firmly upholds.”
