Doha: Minister of Municipality and Urban Planning H E Sheikh Abdulrahman bin Khalifa bin Abdulaziz Al Thani met Swedish Ambassador Ewa Polano.
He praised the Swedish embassy’s promotion of innovation.
Polano invited the Minister to visit Sweden, its Symbio City, Hammarby Sjostad, and meet engineers to discuss the future Smart City in Qatar where Sweden can help.
The Minister said the door is always open for Swedish engineers and construction companies who would like to come and give a presentation. Both also discussed Swedish innovation and entrepreneurship and the initiative to open a Swedish Innovation Centre for Research & Development at Education City or Qatar University.
The ministry would like to get involved in the centre as a start to get involved in projects.
Swedish company Ericsson’s ‘Networked Society’ was also discussed as part of a pilot project for future smart cities to be developed in Qatar.
