Qatar welcomes temporary truce between Afghanistan, Pakistan on the occasion of Eid al-Fitr

Doha, Qatar: The State of Qatar expressed its welcome for the announcement of the temporary truce between Afghanistan and the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, on the occasion of the upcoming blessed Eid al-Fitr, and considers this step a positive initiative that contributes to de-escalation and strengthening the atmosphere of calm between the two sides.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs affirmed the State of Qatar's aspiration that this temporary truce paves the way for a return to a sustainable ceasefire agreement, which spares the blood of civilians and achieves security and stability.

In this context, the Ministry commended the two parties' response to the calls issued by the State of Qatar, the sisterly Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, and the sisterly Republic of Turkey to implement this truce, emphasizing that prioritizing the language of dialogue and peaceful solutions is the optimal path to resolving outstanding disputes.

The Ministry renews its affirmation of the State of Qatar's commitment to continuing its diplomatic efforts, in coordination with regional and international partners, to support de-escalation endeavors and enhance security and stability in the region.
