DOHA: Visitors to the ‘Olympics — Past & Present’ exhibition will have the chance to splatter Al Riwaq Doha space with balloons filled with paint at the ‘Hit the Building’ event tomorrow.

As part of the programme at the expo opened three weeks ago, “Hit the Building” will be held from 2pm to 6pm and provide entertainment through a DJ, an Arab rap band and BeatBox.

Following the fun event will be a talk featuring Qatari athletes Nada Wafa Arkaji and Ibrahim Ismail who will share their experiences of becoming Olympic athletes. Other upcoming events include a visit of the Williams F1 Team and a conference on the history of doping and anti-doping.

On Monday at 3pm, the original Formula 1 car will be on display and the drivers Pastor Maldonado, Valtteri Bottas and Susie Wolff will available for photographs and autographs.

The conference organised in cooperation with the Anti-Doping Lab Qatar will take place from May 6 to 7 at the Museum of Islamic Art auditorium and explore the historical, cultural and scientific aspects of doping.

Organised by QMA’s Qatar Olympic & Sports Museum (QOSM), the largest of its kind expo shows both ancient and modern Olympic Games and tells the history of the Olympics in ancient Greece and their reestablishment in modern times. It is held in partnership with ExxonMobil Qatar and runs until June 30 at Al Riwaq Doha exhibition space.

The accompanying education and events programme of the expo has been well received.

“Our tour guides have been exploring the exhibition with different school classes every day discovering the stories of Olympia and the Olympic Games.

The students especially enjoy the physical activities such as trying out the ancient disciplines or competing against each other in the once Olympic discipline of tug-of-war,” explains Hamda Al Mohannadi, Education Manager of the QOSM.
