ISLAMABAD: A prominent American organisation dedicated to women’s advancement has recognised Pakistan’s Ambassador to the United States Sherry Rehman as one of the top influential woman leaders in the world.

Calling her a ‘Master Tactictian’, the Women in the World Foundation goes on to say, “Sherry Rehman, Pakistan’s Ambassador to the US, is known for her eloquence, elegance, and diplomatic savvy,” while releasing names of 125 Women of Impact in the world.

“And no one seems better at calming the stormy relationship between Washington and Islamabad,” the foundation added.

Ambassador Sherry has led Pakistan’s diplomatic outreach in Washington at a challenging time for Pakistan-US relationship, which has seen improvement from an unprecedented low-point in 2011-12.

Last month, the president of Pakistan conferred on Ambassador Sherry Rehman the highest civilian honour, Nishan-e-Imtiaz, for her the role she played in restoring the Pakistan-US relationship since her appointment in early 2012.

Prior to her appointment as Islamabad’s envoy to Washington, Sherry Rehman served as a distinguished parliamentarian and a federal minister and has been a long-time champion of women’s rights and freedom of the media.
