Deputy PM meets French envoy

Doha: The Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs H E Ahmed bin Abdullah Al Mahmoud met here yesterday with French Ambassador to Qatar Jean-Christophe Peaucelle.
They discussed bilateral relations and means of bolstering and developing them in addition to the developments of the peace process in Darfur and the efforts made to support it on the basis of the Doha Document.
Topics tabled on the agenda of the next meeting of the Follow-Up Commission monitoring the implementation of the Doha Document which is scheduled to be held in El Fasher city of Sudan by the end of the month were also reviewed. The meeting was attended by a number of officials of the General Secretariat of the Cabinet.

 

Conference on Family concludes


Doha: The Doha International Conference on the Family called for developing comprehensive policies and a coherent and integrated perspective to support family stability. 
The two-day conference with participation of a group of professionals, researchers, academics, policy makers and representatives of a number of non-governmental organisations, and stakeholders has focused discussions on ways to empower the family, and the importance of re-considering the various challenges faced by families around the world. The meeting also highlighted the role of effective national policies for the family in the promotion of well-being.
The participants outlined in the Doha call, urged promotion of gender equality, women’s empowerment, reform of existing laws and policies on discrimination, especially family laws, and enact legislation to end child marriage and violence against women.
