ISLAMABAD: The federal government of Pakistan is pondering over a proposal to introduce a ‘Green Force’ in the capital to ensure effective implementation of environmental laws, especially in the context of ongoing development projects.
According to the proposal, the ‘Green Force’ would initially comprise 108 members, including chief inspector, two deputy chief inspectors, 50 inspectors, one deputy director, two assistant directors, 50 field investigators and two prosecutors.
“The success of Islamabad Green City Programme lies in effective implementation of environmental laws and policies so it is necessary to have a vibrant tool to ensure all construction and development work is done keeping in view natural character of the city,” said an official.
