Doha: Qatar will honour on Sunday a group of Qatari personalities who took interest in heritage and exerted efforts in the field, as part of the World Heritage Day celebration which falls on April 18.
The Minister of Culture, Arts and Heritage H E Dr Hamad Abdulaziz Al Kuwari will honour a group of Qatari heritage pioneers during the event, which gained more significance after Qatar Museums Authority announced in 2013 that Zubarah town had become a UNESCO world heritage site. The World Heritage Day, proposed by UNESCO in 1972, classified as heritage cultural sites that include monuments, architecture and urban sites of exceptional value as well as natural sites of universal standing.
