DOHA: Sidra Medical and Research Center’s Division Chief of Paediatrics and Director, Sidra Cardiovascular Center of Excellence, Dr Ziyad M Hijazi (pictured), has been selected as one of 18 physicians for inaugural recipients of the Master Fellowship from the Society for Cardiovascular Angiography and Interventions (MSCAI). The fellowship is given to a narrow set of SCAI members, nominated for outstanding achievements and contributions to the field of cardiac, endovascular angiography and interventions.
The designated MSCAI is acknowledged by their colleagues to show dedication to the highest standards of clinical care, innovation, research and teaching. According to SCAI, “An MSCAI sets a moral and ethical example for others, strives for excellence in patient care, and is committed to the highest professional standards.”
The SCAI was created in 1978 to promote excellence in invasive and interventional cardiovascular medicine through physician education and representation, as well as the advancement of quality standards to enhance patient care. The SCAI is the largest and only Society that represents interventional cardiologists all over the world with over 5000 members. Dr Hijazi was the 31st president of this Society.
