HAKKARI, Turkey: A soldier injured in a PKK terrorist attack in southeastern Turkey succumbed to his wounds Monday, said a military source.

PKK terrorists targeted a military vehicle with a rocket-propelled grenade in the Cukurca district of the Hakkari province on Sunday, said the source, who spoke on condition of anonymity due to restrictions on talking to the media.
Three soldiers, one in critical condition, and one village guard were hospitalized at Hakkari State Hospital.

The soldier who was in critical condition succumbed to his wounds, the source added.

Counter-terror operations against the PKK terrorist organization continue in the area.

More than 1,200 people, including security force personnel and civilians, have lost their lives since the PKK -- listed as a terrorist organization by Turkey, the U.S., and EU -- resumed its decades-old armed campaign in July 2015.
