Doha, Qatar: The State of Qatar condemned the attack that targeted a patrol belonging to the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) in the south of the country, which led to the death of a French soldier and the injury of several others. Qatar considers this a serious violation of the rules of international humanitarian law and UN Security Council Resolution 1701.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs reiterated the State of Qatar’s total rejection of any aggression targeting UNIFIL forces, which play a fundamental role in maintaining security and stability in the Republic of Lebanon. It stressed the necessity of opening an urgent investigation into the attack and bringing those responsible to justice.

The Ministry expressed the condolences of the State of Qatar to the family of the soldier, and to the government and people of the French Republic, wishing the injured a speedy recovery.
