Doha: The Ministry of Municipality, represented by the Agricultural Research Department, has invited farmers, researchers, agricultural specialists, and members of the public to attend an extension field day titled “Guar as a Promising Alternative Fodder Crop in the State of Qatar,” scheduled to take place today.
The event will be held at 8:30am at the Horticulture and Protected Agriculture Research Station in Al Atouriya, and aims to showcase the latest research findings and practical experiments related to the cultivation and use of guar as an alternative fodder crop suitable for Qatar’s environment.
The Ministry stated that the field day will provide participants with an opportunity to explore innovative agricultural solutions that support sustainability and contribute to enhancing the efficiency of local agricultural production in line with the latest scientific practices and research-based approaches.
During the event, specialists and researchers are expected to present the outcomes of ongoing studies and field trials focused on guar cultivation, including its adaptability to local climatic conditions, water-use efficiency, and nutritional value as livestock feed.
The initiative forms part of the Ministry’s broader efforts to strengthen food security, support sustainable farming systems, and encourage the adoption of crops that can thrive under Qatar’s environmental conditions.
The Ministry of Municipality continues to organise awareness and extension activities aimed at transferring scientific knowledge to farmers and agricultural stakeholders, while promoting modern technologies and sustainable practices that contribute to the development of the agricultural sector.
